Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or more, for extra cheesiness)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Add diced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, beef broth, and cornstarch (if using). Let simmer until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  4. Place slices of provolone cheese on top of the beef mixture and allow it to melt. Stir to combine.
  5. Toast hamburger buns and spoon the mixture onto each bun. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Add hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Use cheddar or mozzarella cheese as an alternative to provolone.
  • Serve with a side of fries or salad for a complete meal.
