This simple cupcake base recipe uses flour, sugar, eggs, and butter for a light and fluffy texture. Ideal for any cupcake creation, whether you top it with buttercream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate. Quick and easy, perfect for birthdays or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Mix in vanilla. Gradually alternate adding flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with flour.
  • Divide batter into cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely before decorating.

Notes

For extra flavor, add lemon zest or cocoa powder to the batter. Makes an ideal base for any frosting or filling.
