Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp flour (or cornstarch for gluten-free option)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onions and garlic until softened. Add the mushrooms and cook until tender.
  4. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add the beef broth, stirring to avoid lumps.
  5. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce and bring the sauce to a simmer.
  6. Lower the heat, add the sour cream, and stir until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  8. Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use cornstarch instead of flour and serve with gluten-free pasta or rice.
  • Add a splash of heavy cream for an even richer sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
