This easy beef teriyaki recipe features tender beef strips coated in a savory-sweet homemade teriyaki sauce. A perfect weeknight meal that's quick to prepare and full of flavor. Serve with rice or veggies for a complete dish!

  • 1 lb beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and water. Stir well.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry. Stir until the sauce thickens.
  • Return the cooked beef to the pan, coating it with the sauce. Simmer for 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use flank steak or sirloin for the best texture.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
