    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup applesauce
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cup milk
    • 3 cups chopped apples
  • For the Caramel Buttercream:
    • 2 cups unsalted butter (softened)
    • 2 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
    • 2 tsp cinnamon
    • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • Decoration:
    • Extra caramel for dripping
    • Apple slices

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  • Whisk flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger together.
  • In a separate bowl, beat butter, oil, and sugar until creamy. Add applesauce, eggs, and vanilla.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with milk.
  • Fold in chopped apples and pour batter into prepared pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cakes cool completely.
  • For the buttercream, beat softened butter until creamy, then add vanilla, caramel sauce, and cinnamon. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix until smooth.
  • Frost the cooled cakes with caramel buttercream and decorate with extra caramel and apple slices.

Notes

  • You can use Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples for a tart flavor.
